STANDARD 100 by OekO-Tex ® is one of the world’s best known textile labels for testing hazardous substances. It represents consumer trust and a high level of product safety. Learn about STANDARD 100 and why it’s necessary to look at the label when purchasing textiles.
What does this label stand for?
If the textile carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be sure that every part of the product, that is, every thread, button and other accessory, has been tested for hazardous materials and is therefore ecologically sound to humans.Testing is carried out by our independent OEKO-TEX® facility according to an extensive OEKO-TEX® standard catalogue. Many controlled and uncontrolled substances that may be harmful to human health are taken into account in the testing. In many cases, STANDARD 100′s limited values exceed national and international standards. The standard catalogue is updated at least once a year and is expanded in response to new scientific findings or statutory requirements. It is difficult for manufacturers and consumers to systematically understand the legal status of hazardous substances on a daily basis, and our experts from Oeko-Tex ® canprovide relevant services.
What products can be certified?
In principle, all textiles at every stage of processing, from thread to fabric and finished product, are eligible for STANDARD 100 certification. We test each component and raw material under a modular system, and only products that pass the test receive the STANDARD 100 label. Testing includes threads, buttons, zippers and linings. Printing and coating of external materials are also tested for hazardous materials according to applicable standards. Whether it’s baby textiles, clothing, home textiles or decorative materials, products with the STANDARD 100 labelare trusted.
